10月25日，中國電商巨頭阿里巴巴集團主要創始人馬雲蒞臨菲律賓德拉薩大學（De La Salle University）進行了精彩的演講，現場氣氛熱烈，在菲華人也通過網絡直播目睹這場精彩的演說。馬雲在演講中，以自身經驗鼓舞所有年輕人大膽去實現夢想、堅持夢想。他也表露了自己對菲律賓金融市場的看好，並借此向大眾宣傳了「掃碼支付」等便捷的科技手段。
另據中新社報導，德拉薩大學將建校106年以來的首個科技創業（Technopreneurship）名譽博士學位授予阿里巴巴董事局主席馬雲。校方在介紹授予理由時稱，馬雲是科技創業的堅定倡導者，他將互聯網應用和創業結合在一起，幫助了無數年輕人實現夢想。

校方介紹，授予馬雲該學位，不僅僅因為他是具有世界影響力的商業領袖，更是因為馬雲為全球中小企業、年輕人和可持續發展所做的貢獻及努力。馬雲擔任聯合國貿易和發展會議青年創業和小企業特別顧問等社會職務，積極推動了世界可持續和普惠發展。
「我很高興學到了這個單詞：Techentrepreneurs（科技創業家）」。馬雲非常認同「科技創業」這一新概念，並表示，今後創業就是要用技術去解決問題，「未來我們不再是企業家，而是網絡企業家，因為80%的業務將在網上進行。科技將會改變世界，技術和創業的結合將成為21世紀成功的重要因素。」
在與現場數百名學生互動時，馬雲表示，「1995年我開始接觸互聯網時，也犯過很多錯誤。1999年，我成立阿里巴巴的時候，曾告訴團隊我們可能不會成功。」
馬雲鼓勵現場學生，我們從未預料到，18年後會得到這麼多，所以不要擔心夢想是否愚蠢，如果真的相信這是一個很棒的夢想，就要不畏人言，去勇敢嘗試。

馬雲的創業夢想是通過互聯網實現的，他建議在場學生在互聯網時代要具備持續學習能力，並且快速擁抱變化，「因為最終幹掉你的不是你的競爭對手，而是面對未來依然故步自封」。
除了鼓勵年輕人追求夢想，馬雲還提出，要一起為世界的可持續發展和普惠發展努力。
數據顯示，大約70％的菲律賓人口沒有銀行賬戶，菲律賓99%是小生意，不到3％的菲律賓人使用信用卡付款。菲律賓有7000多個島嶼，相當一部分人口生活在島嶼上。
「我們不可能每個島上都有銀行，但是DT（數據技術）可以讓每個島上的人都通過移動互聯網連接。在IT時代，不是每個農民、年輕人都能用電腦，但是現在人人有手機。」馬雲說，「我們要努力打造一個可以連接世界的市場，建設支付系統、物流等商業基礎設施，並讓每一個人年輕人都可以去世界看看。」

First young people have a lot of things to do, it's okay. at least it have hope, you have to focus on one thing, you have to pick up a things that you really passion about, if you don't like it, it will never sustain, if you love it, you have passion about it, prioritize it.
第一、年輕人有很多想做的事，這樣很棒，這樣至少有希望。你要專注於一件事，選一件你愛做的事。不要去選你不喜歡的那件事。比如你父母讓你做的事，它不會持續很久。如果你喜歡做，樂於做的那件事，那麼你就會優先那件事。比如說在上大學時，早上上課，下午有空就在網上買東西，很方便，也不會耽誤時間。
The priority when you study or work, you should learn. You should learn from it.
在學校和工作的時候你必須優先「學習」，你要學會怎麼從中「學到」東西。
20-30 yr. old find a good boss, good boss is better than good company, 30-40 do something you want to do for yourself, 40-50 do something you are good at. 50-60 focus on young people, 60 and above spend time with your grandchildren.
